“110% Leeds” – Legend Comments On Bielsa Bust Up Claims & Asks For A Beer

|

Leeds United centre-half Pontus Jansson is certainly an interesting character and he’s well liked within the fanbase for wearing his heart on his sleeve and he is one of many players who can reflect fondly on what ultimately became a disappointing 2018/19 Championship campaign.

Having played a massive part across the season, even finding himself between the sticks whilst injured, he cut a lone figure after the Derby disappointment warm down and whilst some criticised him for making it about him – he simply reflected how fans felt at that time.

With speculation about his future moving into a higher gear with reports of a bust-up with Marcelo Bielsa, the 28-year-old was recently speaking to Swedish outlet Aftonbladet whilst he didn’t guarantee he would be with us next campaign, he stated he wouldn’t be looking for a move.

“I’ve always said that taking the step up to the Premier League is my dream and I want to do it with Leeds. It is up to Leeds if there is an interest in negotiating. Until then I am 110 percent Leeds. I’ll be there until the day they don’t want me. But when you get a question about this after such an end, it’s really tough. But give me a holiday and some beer and then it’s back to England to run again!”

Asked about the Bielsa claims.

“I have had a fantastic development during Bielsa’s time here and I know how much he cares about me. So as I developed as a player, as a person and how I train, sleep and eat…there has been a tremendous development and everything is more or less thanks to him. Sure, it has been tough and many long exercises. But one must take that for what he has done with our team has been absolutely fantastic.”

With Bielsa also previously showing him with praise, if there was any kind of bust-up is certainly doesn’t sound like it was one that a hug couldn’t fix.
